Mountain Climber

So a couple of months ago, I blogged about Jackson's terrifying experience with the rock wall at the YMCA.  Every couple of weeks or so, when we've seen other little kids climb it, I've asked him if he'd like to try it again,  He always said no, until this week.  It was actually Jackson that brought it up.  I was so proud that he wanted to tackle something that was so scary to him before.  He did a really great job.  He didn't quite make it to the top to ring the bell, but I'm sure after a couple of attempts he will.  It's fun to see your kids  challenge themselves and grow!

Well, I never thought I had to worry about this, having two boys and all, but Jackson cut Wyatt's hair.  Luckily, there wasn't really much to cut.  However, it must be somewhat obvious because it is the first thing Erik noticed when he came home on Friday.  When I asked (sternly) Jackson why he did it Jackson responded, "Because I wanted to make Wyatt so beautiful."  For his part, Wyatt didn't seem to mind the procedure. can you see it? still is just about the cutest thing though . . .

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Erik got some free tickets to a Diamondbacks baseball game, so we found a babysitter and took off! We went with Joseph (a guy Erik works with) and his wife Aurelea , we went to their house to watch the fireworks, so I already knew what fun, nice people they were :)  Joseph is basically a sports fanatic.  Back when Phoenix's housing market was booming, he had season tickets to the Diamondbacks, the Suns, and the Cardinals.  Any little baseball question I had, he answered kindly. We were totally spoiled with the kind of tickets we had.  No one was in front of us, each seat had a personal screen to watch closeups of the game, and best of all . . . there was an all you can eat menu included :) Yes, I felt like a pig ordering two ice creams, but so what??  It was fun to eat "true baseball game food" like hot dogs, nachos, and peanuts (don't worry, I didn't eat everything on the menu) All in all, it was a really fun night....

Really didn't do much this weekend, but sometimes that's just the way I like it!  Here's a random sampling of the past couple of days: After our Wednesday trip to Chuck E Cheese's for playgroup, I had some left over coins, so that was the boys' big fun on Saturday :) Wyatt was not into the little rides.  He would freak out if he thought something was going to move or start talking. OK, this is kind of case of bad parenting, but I'll tell it anyway.  On Friday morning, we got all ready and excited to go to the cheap movie at the movie theater.  Jackson was so very excited to see Planet 51, so we rushed around and made sure to get to the theater with enough time to get seats.  Well when we got there, I realized I forgot my wallet at home!!  Seriously, I never do that.  Suffice it to say, Jackson was very disappointed that we needed to leave the theater and not come back (there was no way we would've made it back in time).  While trying to ...

Nice Way to End a Wednesday

On his way to visit Stockton, Derrick had a little layover at the Phoenix airport last night.  It was really fun to see him, if only for a short time!  I feel like I've always lived in my family's "visiting loop" until now.  Meaning when we lived in Rexburg people would either specifically go there or to Utah, which w asn't a hard trip.  When we lived in Visalia , we were close to Stockton.  If anyone were visiting, we could go up easily.  Now being in Phoenix, we aren't on the way anywhere and people don't just stop in Phoenix randomly.  However, if more people would have layovers here, it would help the situation. :) As always, it was fun being with Derrick.  I'm afraid our conversations kept leading back to the immigration debate, because that is pretty much the one and only news story here.  The fact that I vehemently disagree with a lot of political leaders here, probably fans the flames.  I like talking about issues with Derrick...
