Swimsuit Season for the Toddler Set

Image
Yeah! It's finally time to get in the water. Since there are no pools in Rexburg (and no fences for that matter) the neighborhood kids have just been going from backyard to backyard to play on slip 'n slides. Once it gets really warm, we'll get crazy and bust out the kiddie pools! The boys decided it was much more fun to drink from the slip 'n slide rather than play on it! I'm sure I'm supposed to be worried about all sorts of BPA and other chemicals, but they were having fun :) Wyatt being so patient while I water the strawberries on the deck. Guess what? They are thriving since transplanting them from the garden bed. I am quite shocked about it, since I really don't know what the heck I'm doing!

Memorial Day Weekend

Image
Well, now it's back to real life after a great, relaxing weekend. We didn't do anything too spectacular, but I call the weekend a success when I don't have to use my oven once in 4 days! I loved teaching Jackson what Memorial Day is. He is just starting to think about these concepts of being thankful, and living in a safe and happy place. And of course, he loves soldiers! Telling Jackson everything I know about bowling, "Push the ball really hard and if you knock any pins down whatsoever it is time to celebrate." Ohh , look at that form. I think Erik gets an automatic boost to his ego whenever we go bowling. I'm amazed when people get above 100 :) Just hangin ' out at the bowling alley. What's wrong with giving my 7 month old limeade?? Maverick actually enjoys playing fetch with Jackson now. (When Jackson could only throw the ball 6 inches in front of him, it lost some of its excitement for the dog!) I can not get enough of this smile :) The love of J...

Who Needs Toys?

Jackson was in this thing for at least 7 hours this weekend. He's already excited to play on it tomorrow. What are we going to do if we have to move to a place where having a skid steer next door isn't a common occurrence???

A Mathematical Equation

(sustained sleep deprivation) + ("Boom Boom Pow" really loud) + (dancing around the house with Jackson) = 1 great afternoon pick-me-up

My Hero

After the boys were asleep Saturday night, Erik and I were looking forward to relaxing and watching a movie. I was just getting my spot on the couch nice and comfy, when in the corner of my eye I saw a big brown fur ball dash from behind the hutch to the mud room. I immediately screamed and knew it was a mouse. Now, there is nothing that strikes fear in my heart quite like a little mouse. I started a screaming/ hyperventilating combo and told Erik he had to find it and kill it. Erik, who didn't see the mouse started looking everywhere in the mud room and laundry room. He was tearing the place apart for a good 20 min, and I started to question if I really had seen the varmint . But of course, the mouse was really there; lurking and waiting to terrorize me again. He ran, from whatever mysterious place he was hiding out, to no joke, me!! He was heading right toward my cowering frame and the couch I was on. However, he was no match for dear Maverick. Maverick pounced on that thing wi...

I Guess Christmas Is Really Over

Yes, this is Erik taking down our Christmas lights, in the middle of May.

The Kind of Weekend I Like

Image
Ahh , I love weekends! This one has been especially nice, because the majority of the time we have been able to be outside. For most of the week we had winds 35-55 mph, so on Friday, when they finally calmed done, we ditched the house for as long as we could! Yesterday, we worked outside pretty much the whole day. I transplanted all of my strawberries into pots (lets hope they survive) and worked in the garden bed. My peas, lettuce, and spinach are all cute little seedlings now. This weekend I'm hoping to plant the tomatoes, carrots, and watermelon. Hip Hip Hooray for things that grow! Yesterday Erik and Jackson put in a fire pit. Jackson was soooo excited to roast marshmallows and hot dogs. We kept telling him we had to wait until it got darker. He barely made it without going into convulsions. I have a feeling we are going to use the fire pit often this summer. It was fun to have a bunch of neighbors over and just relax. So, I realize I post pictures that Jackson takes a lo...

Its Official: He's a Preschooler!

Image
Jackson's first day of preschool was today and it has left me feeling a bit sad. This will be the longest he's been away from me on a consistent basis; it seems like such a milestone. He loved going today and with a ratio of like two kids for every teacher, I definitely feel like he is in good hands. I love the stage of life he is in right now, but I miss the baby and toddler that I held all the time. Well, life just keeps on moving I guess.
