First Grade

Image
Seriously, I'm just not ready to have a first grader.  The funny thing is, when Jackson was a little baby I was always so excited for his next milestone or age.  He seemed to get happier as he could do more things and I loved discovering the world through his eyes.  However, I'm OK if it all just stops now. I realized the problem is now that he is in school all day, I'm not discovering the world through his eyes anymore.  I'm with him less than his teachers and peers will be (he was only in half day kindergarten, so this is truly a brave new world for us).  I know this is just part of the life of a mother, but I'm having a hard time realizing that this the beginning of letting go.  I don't like it. However, I behaved myself nicely around Jackson and showed how proud I was of him, as we first went to the meet and greet at his school on Monday afternoon. First day of school!  I love walking Jackson to school.  I love that we are only...

Late-over

One of the things that Jackson really wanted to do before school started was a late-over with Austin and Camri Staker.  We lit up the fire pit for hot dogs and smores. While we were in CA, Erik ordered a remote control airplane like the one his brother Peter has.  This guys was like a little kid on Christmas when it came.  A few times, he's come home a bit early from work, or he's come home for lunch (which he never does).  It always surprises me, but then sure enough, he's tinkering with his airplane and I see the reason he has come home :) Anna and I always enjoy the air show We went to a new pediatric dentist.  It's a great office out in Sterling.  I don't mind going there, because then I have a good excuse to go to the really big Dulles mall :) I thought Wyatt would be just fine, after seeing Jackson get his teeth cleaned.  However, when it came time to really get in big chair, he was not having it.  The hygienist and I tried our sweetest coaxing, but nothing seemed to work.  Then she told Wyatt that after he was done he could pick out a prize in the little vending machine thing that th...
