This and That and a Whole Lot of Video

Image
These pictures were obviously taken last week (pre hair cut and pre forehead gash for Wyatt).  I'm sure the only people who are at all interested in seeing the billion videos I put up are grandparents and myself, but it's fun for me to share a quick glimpse of our everyday-ness around here :) holding his breath underwater in the vast ocean that is our backyard grass :) another day, another afternoon spent in the back On Wednesday morning, I was trying to motivate myself to clean my "it looks like a tornado swept through" mess of a house by dancing to Rio with the kids.  The first video shows Wyatt's spanking move that always makes me laugh (even if I do try and discourage it at the same time!).  And the second shows Anna's current dance move as of late (shaking her head to the music).  Both show her crazy hair that I didn't brush into place after bath time and the messy rooms.  Happy to report that eventually the rooms did get clean a...

Rain Party

Image
Yesterday, after seeing the depressing weather report filled with a week of cold, wind, and rain, the boys and I decided to throw a rain party.  I thought of a couple of activities and we invited some friends. Well, characteristically for me, I tried getting way too much done this morning and didn't really have time to gather the necessary supplies and stuff so I was running around like a chicken with it's head chopped off.  I also kept thinking of things that would've made the party more fun, so maybe I'll have to try this again sometime. We made rain sticks, played pin the rain drop on the flower, rainy day activities-charades, nature walk in the rain, and ate sugar cookies frosted white with blue sprinkles.  Jackson thought of those, thinking they would look like rain drops. over all it was fun b/c there were fun friends there, but not really due to my party skills :) The finale of the party was decidedly unfun .  Lisa, Amanda, and I were in the kitchen ta...

Entertain Me

Image
On Friday evening, the Meyers who live down the road hosted a movie night.  It was so much fun!  They have an awesome projector and surround sound, so it really was like a movie theater.  We watched Rio, which I had never seen before.  That movie has some danceable music! On Saturday evening I took Jackson on a special date.  We started off with dinner at Subway which is always yummy!  I even let Jackson get chips and a drink- special! :) Our conversations were pretty entertaining.  They ranged from the size of a bald eagle's nest to how many years it will be before Jackson is 18.  He is one fun guy to be around! Then we went to Milbrook's High School's production of Bye Bye Birdie.  Several of the youth in our ward were in it, so I wanted to go (not to mention that Bye Bye Birdie will always hold a special place in my heart for many reasons).  Jackson, who has been very interested in teenagers lately (see above conversat...

Feelin' Hot Hot Hot

Image
So far, April seems to be continuing the freaky weather we've been having.  Tuesday was HOT, like summer- 90 degrees hot.  After Jackson got home from school, we made a Target trip and bought a couple of squirt guns and a baby pool for an afternoon of water fun. The Taylors came over and it was fun watching all of the kids splash and play.  Nothing says summer like a baby pool and sprinklers. :) Anna wasn't quite sure about the ice cold water that came out the hose to fill the baby pool.  She was clawing at me like a scared cat whenever kids (and splashes) came running by! Once she had the place to herself, she was a bit more brave :) It was fun while it lasted, but of course it's back to being cold already.  Tomorrow's suppose to be 58 and rainy!

The Weekend

Image
Jackson's first soccer game of the Spring Season. Running Start   Jackson checked out a graphic novel about the Titanic (kid version).  Jackson and Wyatt have been pouring over the book this weekend.  We had a conversation about the mechanics of the ship, how it hit the iceberg, etc and I mentioned to Jackson that it really happened 100 years ago.  He kept walking around the house saying, "that is so sad."  I hope I haven't scarred him. Friday evening was the much anticipated "5th graders versus teachers Greenwood Mill Elementary School Basketball Game."  It was fun, but super hot and crowded.  Wyatt, Anna, and I kept talking walks around the parking lot to cool off. This girl loooooves blueberries.  I have to time the feeding of them right though, so it's right before bath time. I loved how Anna matched her adorable doll that Grammy and Poppy got her.  I always look at the doll, as it sits on her dresser near where...

Library Love

Image
So yesterday we were at the library, checking out our usual insane number of books.  Often we reach our 30 item limit, and so I was counting to make sure that we wouldn't go over.  The librarian told me that Jackson could get his own card as long as he is over 5 years of age.  Jackson was SO excited at this announcement.  Because I didn't have the required proof of residency on me, I told Jackson next time we came we'd get him his own. Well, Jackson convinced me to go back today- I just had to indulge his excitement- it was so cute! The library brought us some other excitement as well.  Yesterday in the Children's Section, Anna took her most-ever-amount-of-steps.  It was like 7, and I just stood there, frozen, not wanting to cause her to unbalance by trying to turn her head and see me or something :)  I shrieked excitedly at the boys to look her way.  After Anna took her seven steps, I noticed another Mom, that had a couple of tweens w...

Egg Hunt

Image
Sunday evening the Taylors invited us to join them at the Arboretum for an egg hunt.  We were going to do one for the boys just in the backyard, but it's always more fun with friends :) haha I love Wyatt's sneaky looking face here Oh and Jackson with his blasted vampire teeth he got as a party favor on Saturday.  Those drooling things have been on or near him pretty much every since- yuck! Anna experiencing her first egg hunt (last year as a newborn she was napping while we did it- like she would've known what was going on anyway though!) So I realize I've gotten super bad about editing my pictures I post- I know that I put too many on, sorry!  However, this next set of pictures we took while trying to get a shot of all of the kids I'm putting on because it really shows how hard it is to take a picture of Wyatt!  He is quite the character! Us, the Taylors, and a few guys from ProBuild that had Easter dinner with the Taylors.  It was a really ...
