Happy Halloween!!

Our Halloween celebration picked up again on Tuesday evening.  The kids were looking forward to trick or treating at the mall, but I found out (as they were getting their costumes on) that it was canceled due to the storm.  I must admit I was kind of annoyed, because like I said in the last post, our area really didn't get the storm too bad.  Not enough to have an indoor Halloween celebration canceled at least, but whatever.  To lessen the blow, I told the kids we would have our Halloween dinner that night.  I ended up really liking this and may continue it in the future.  Better to lessen the load on the actual Halloween night I think.  We ate mummy dogs, veggies, homemade donuts and hot apple ciper.  Yum! Wednesday was Jackson's first day back to school, but we were still in vacation mode because the schools were on a two hour delay.  It was pretty nice not rushing around in the morning trying to get everyone ready!  When Ja...

Picking and Choosing

Right now my goals in this stage of life are 1) make yummy and delicious food that my family will eat 2) make healthy choices for myself in terms of eating, exercise, and sleeping 3) think of enriching and educational activities to do with the kids 4) take the time to teach children (anything from gospel type things to cleaning things) 5) spend the time I feel is necessary on my calling and with others I am called to serve 6) organize and keep the house clean, stay on top of bills, etc. 7) get myself dressed and looking presentable 8) spend quality time with Erik 9) keep in touch with loved ones Unfortunately on any given day I accomplish two or three or maybe four of these goals (actually let's be honest it's never 4).  The ones I place at the front of the pack take turns, so I guess I end up eventually doing it- just never on the same day which is frustrating to me.  The days I take care of myself better (go to bed on time, exercise,  actually shower and do my hair)...

Halloween: Phase One

On Saturday, we went trick or treating at the downtown walking mall.  It was great seeing the kids dressed up.  I will say I was less than thrilled with all of the smoke I had to breath in though!  There are so many more smokers here in VA than any other place we have lived.  Times like these, makes me pine for the "government take-over laws" of California that make it near impossible for people to smoke there :) Getting all ready.  So on Friday Wyatt decided to not be Wolverine, like he'd been planning for the past month and a half, and instead be a cowboy.  I wasn't going to fight it however, because we had everything for a cowboy costume already (Jackson was one when he was 4). A little later I realized I had put on his chaps backwards, haha they didn't last on Wyatt for long anyway. handsome cowboy! Jackson was still ready to be Wolverine.   Scary claws! Anna picking her cowgirl hat.  Her costume hasn't quite pa...
