N.Y.C. Day Four

On Sunday morning, I was finally able to sleep in!! :)  We woke up around 9:00 and got ready for an 11:00 church.  I was excited to see the temple and go to church on one of the levels of the building. It's so cool to me that there is a sacred temple right in the heart of one of the busiest cities in the world.  I wish we were able to go and serve inside the temple, but I guess I'll just add that to my "next time" list.  The ward that we went to was kind of interesting (if not surprising).  There were a ton of young families with one, two, or three little children.  It makes sense to me, because I think a lot of people come to New York out of college, to get some good business experience but then move on.  There were only a small handful of older families.  I'm sure it's much harder to live in a small apartment with teenage children! :) After church, we decided to visit the Museum of Natural History before we took off.  Erik...

N.Y.C. Day Three

Once again on Saturday morning, I could not sleep in.  I woke up around 6:30, very excited for our last full day in New York.  The only thing we had on the agenda was admission to the World Trade Center Memorial at 11:00.  So, I decided I may as well go on a jog (which was one of the things I really wanted to do, but didn't think I would get a chance). The run was so. much.  fun.  In fact, it probably was one of my top 3 three things I did during the whole trip.  It was just so surreal to run down 5th Ave. by all of the designer shop windows (the song running through my head was from Easter Parade: "On the Avenue, 5th Avenue . . ."). I also ran through a little bit of Central Park.  It was a drizzly morning, but not too bad and as you can see there were still a lot people out enjoying the park. I couldn't believe how many runners there were in Central Park (so of course I creepily took pictures of some, haha)  Like literally, it w...

N.Y.C. Day Two

Well one advantage of not having any time to blog, is that I get to relive our vacation night after night as I try to update :)  So, on Friday morning we had planned on sleeping in, but honestly I was just too excited.  I think I woke up at 6:30- crazy how wired we are to wake up early once we are parents! One thing that was kind of "stressing me out" was getting to a couple of shows I have always dreamed of going to.  One is Regis and Kelly (well now Kelly and Michael) however I didn't get tickets ahead of time so this would have meant standing in a stand by line at 7:00 which even though I was awake, I didn't want to be out of the door at 6:30.  So at around 9:00 we walked over to the Rockefeller Center to check out the Today show (oh by the way, if you didn't know I was huge nerd before this trip, these posts will most certainly confirm this fact!) As you can see, there was no one at the Today show on Friday.  I guess they were on location in Florida...
