It's a Wonderful Life

So I probably shouldn't mention this in fear someone will call child services on me, but Jackson had his first hunting trip this morning. Erik wanted to take Jackson, and at first I thought he was crazy but he explained Jackson would never be around guns directly and he would just be in his car seat while they looked for deer. Anyway, Jackson was soo excited and they had a good time- I didn't mind having a whole morning to myself either :) Here are the happy hunters, returned in one piece. Tonight we are going to have a ton of fun . . . canning tomatoes! We did a few bottles the other night, and now we have a lot more. We have like 3 boxes full of tomatoes that we grew this summer that had to be picked not quite ripe since it is already snowing!! Erik was really good at the canning process (that really shouldn't be a surprise!) and it was nice family bonding. Now if we have to live off our food storage we will at least get some lycopene (sp?) in our diet.

So, first of all I'm so happy the debate went on last night. I've been looking forward to this for so long, and I was worried when it wasn't going to go on (Yeah, I'm a dork). I thought overall, it was a good debate. It was at least respectful, except for the few moments John McCain was a little condescending. I thought they stuck to issues and not personal attacks which is always good. Anyway, now I'm excited to see what SNL will do with it, b/c that is half the fun of the debates. I can remember my first presidential election where I was really awarw and interested in 92. Along with that, I can remember Saturday Night Live's impressions of each of the candidates. My favorite parody has to be the Gore/Bush debates of 2000; I tired finding it to put it on the blog but apparently I'm not that advanced. Anyway, for those of you that have it memorized (which should be a few family members of mine) I'll give a few moments to think of it . . . Moving on, ...

So Happy Birthday to me! Can I hear a hip hip hooray? Jackson is old enough to understand birthdays and celebrations now, so he really helped me get into the birthday spirit. He helped me blow out a yummy cupcake from The Cocoa Bean that my visiting teachers gave me and "sang" Happy Birthday to me. For all of you that don't think I get very big in pregnancy. . . here you go! I always forget to take pictures of myself, but I know I will want to see this someday if I'm feeling bad about my waistline. :) I'm sure little Nyholm will want to see his first home as well. Erik took this right before we went on our semi annual date (that's honestly how often we go out- Erin and James come back to Rexburg!) We went and saw Dark Knight and then to Wingers. Wingers. . . yum Erik drove home a semi truck from work yesterday to drop something off for a neighbor and Jackson was beside himself. Saturday is usually a day I relish having Erik home with us, but today I actually enjoyed just being with Jackson; I think because I realize I don't have too many opportunities like this left. While Erik went down to the BYU game, we went to the zoo and just hung out. What a fun little guy! Can you tell I have less than one month to go?? Unfortunately , my camera ran out of batteries so I only got pictures of the petting zoo area. Oh well! Jackson loved smashing his penny. He had done this in CA with his cousins, my mom, and Derrick and as soon as he saw this machine he got soooo excited. It was worth the 51 cents!

So Jackson loves country living! He loves his practically nightly ride on the 4 wheeler with Erik. He loves farms and tractors, and he loves horses. Luckily we have some friends, Tim and Tess, just a couple miles from our house that own a couple of horses and are always willing to let Jackson come over and see them. Tonight we (well Erik and Jackson) got to ride them and there were two happy boys in the Nyholm family! Jackson loved riding with Erik, but pretty soon he wanted to be by himself. This horse was super gentle and slow, and Jackson promised me he was holding on "super tight!" Jackson was trying to make funny faces at Diesel, their baby to keep him happy. Good practice for whats coming up right?

So, I did it. I have finally succumbed to the mounting pressure and I . . . started a blog. Yes, I realize I'm about 2 years late but I do live in Idaho so cut me some slack (we're a little slower up here). So here it goes!
