Wow, did you really do that?

File this under: Jenny has become how low maintenance?? This weekend Erik was planning on cutting his and Jackson's hair. I've been needing a trim since I don't know how long, so I had a BRILLIANT idea of having Erik trim it up. I knew he had just enough perfectionism in him to do a good job. I thought it was so sweet of him to do it. If it had been outside, it would have been like the "washing the hair scene" in Out of Africa, but alas it was in our bathroom while Jackson watched Dora the Explorer. Jackson is so great at getting his hair cut. I think it has helped that he has watched Erik do it to himself so often. (Excuse the nakedness!) The master at work. I know this is kind of gross, but I wanted to show just how much he took off. Who needs a salon now?

Yay for Urrutias!

Erin and James had a wedding here in Rexburg they had to attend, and so we were lucky enough to have them stay at our place. Jackson, of course was sooo happy to have them. He loves Uncle James and Erin (Erin pointed out that the kids give the Uncle title to the boys but no Aunt for the girls hmmm. . . ) Thanks for coming guys! Jackson getting the newspaper. In Erin's shoes. No pants on. In a shirt that is too small for him.

Sunny Days, Sweeping the Clouds Away

Image
We have finally enjoyed some Spring weather this week and might I just say "Thank Goodness!" I actually shouldn't complain because we have considerably less snow than last year. I'm convinced warm sunny days are nature's Prozac . We didn't do anything too exciting, but just ordinary things seem like more fun when its nice outside. Even inside chores are nicer with the windows open. We took advantage of the beautiful, fleeting (its stormy today!) weather with outings to the park. Wyatt, like Jackson, really likes the backpack. I can't wait to hike up the hill in our backyard and go roaming through all the farm land like I did with Jackson two summer ago. This time Jackson can walk along side me :) Soo excited to be outside!! Jackson loves his new bike. The first day, I drove to the park with the bike in the back. The second day however I was feeling much more ambitious and decided we could walk the whole way (its about a mile and a half away with a cou...

Wyatt dear I love you so, You're happy smiling face . . .

I decided its time again to dedicate a post to Wyatt. He turned 5 months a couple of days ago, and couldn't be more fun! He is so quick to smile and laugh, even at Maverick! He loves his brother, and Jackson in return, loves playing with him. Now that his two teeth are poking all the way through, he's only getting up twice a night again. He seems to enjoy his rice cereal at dinner time (well he at least swallows a couple of spoonfuls ), and he hates nursing with distractions around him. He rolls over like a crazy man. If I leave the room for a minute he will be clear across the other side just by continuous rolling. Its really funny to see, because we didn't experience that with Jackson at all. Anyway, I love my little Wy -Guy to pieces! Playing in Jackson's room, where we spend a lot of time! Jackson let Wyatt borrow his doll. They don't play with it too much, but I think its really cute when they do! After taking a lot of pictures of Wyatt, Jackson said, ...

Happy St. Patricks Day!

Image
I told Erik last night that we had to talk with an Irish accent all day in honor of St. Patrick's Day (hearing Erik try to speak with any type of accent is about the funniest thing you'll ever hear). He wasn't too excited about that idea, so we'll just have to settle for our Irish dinner and listening to U2! Hope everyone has "the luck of Irish" with them today :) By the way, did you know that there are more Irish-Americans living in the U.S. than there are Irish people living in all of Ireland?

Cousins/ Best friends

Image
Ahh , another Sunday evening. I feel like a completely new person b/c get this: Wyatt slept from 9pm to 6am last night!!!!! Of course, I didn't go to bed until midnight but this is first time I've gotten 6 straight hours of sleep since before he was born. Hallelujah! Suffice it to say, I'm in a pretty good mood. Let's just see what he does tonight. . . . This weekend was a lot of fun because three of my cousins were in town. Hannah, a BYU -I student who is off track stayed with her old roommates and her brothers Jonathan and Adam stayed with us. It was a lot of fun seeing them. It gets harder and harder to get together with extended family members as we get older. They are such great people and made me once again thankful for the family I have. They were all so great at playing with Jackson and Wyatt. In fact, whenever they would leave Jackson would ask, "Mom, when are our best friends coming back?" (He's really into calling people his best friends right ...

A tooth, a car, and expired baby food

Image
Our week hasn't been too exciting however, I did discover a tooth in Wyatt's mouth! Jackson was over 7 mo. when he got his first tooth, so this is very early for me. This has made Wyatt's already poor sleeping habbits even poorer!! This with daylight savings and early church has left me pretty dang tired (I know I sound like a broken record sometimes!) You can't really see the tooth right here, but trust me its poking its way out. On Friday night, the Elders Quorum had a pinewood derby race. Not for the little kids, but for themselves! It was quite funny to see all of these men so excited and competitive over their little cars. Erik, unfortunately didn't do the best ("the track was totally messed up!") but Jackson thought his car was pretty neat and now he's always asking to play with "Dad's toy car!" Jackson also ate an obscene amount of cookies during the race. He was definitely not shy about getting himself over to treat table and...
