Ort Family Reunion

Image
On Friday we drove down from New York to Williamsport, PA.  The only other time I had been there  was in January.  The transformation from winter to summer out there is amazing.  I have to say I'm a bigger fan of the summer Williamsport :)  We drove straight to Erik's Uncle Jimmy's to meet with aunts, uncles, and cousins; we were so happy to see Grammy again as well. The kids had so much fun picking up the golf balls that people were hitting.  Uncle Jimmy had made a mini course on his property that the boys especially really loved.  I think Jackson was a bit too enthusiastic in his ball collecting duties and picked up the golf balls being played! The boys loved being taken on rides!

Long Island

Tuesday evening after the blessing, we started our drive to New York.  We stopped for the night at a hotel in King of Prussia, PA (half way to Long Island, about a 3 hour drive).  The boys were so excited to start staying in hotels (they looooove hotels- I think it's mostly the continental breakfasts!) Anna slept really well the whole time we were gone.  It was funny because the night before we left she woke up pretty much every hour, and then the night we came home she did almost as bad!  I wonder if she likes being in the same room as all of us :) The next morning we started our drive to Long Island.  The boys and Anna slept off and on and really did well for the first couple of hours. Erik and I couldn't believe this position Jackson slept in, ouch! Right as we were getting into New York City, I got so excited.  I love the idea of NYC so much.  When I was 18, I was convinced I would move there after college.  I read the New York Times ...

Visiting Winchester

We had such a great time with Erik's family this past week and a half.  Two weeks ago Friday the fun began, with Paul and Danielle, and Erin, James, and Jadie flying in from SLC.  Friday evening we went to Chipotle and Saturday did some letterboxing  (which I'm totally wanting to start now!) We first went to a Civil War battlefield to find the first letter box.  Jackson was pretty excited to be going on a "treasure hunt." Erik reading the clues Danielle and Erin stamping their books We then went to the state arboretum to find some more.  There was a little concert going on that Wyatt was immediately drawn to.  He looooves music; it was cute how transfixed he was! In front of a slave house.  Weird to be surrounded by so much sad history, huh? Sometimes I forget how pretty my surroundings are Saturday night Kelsey, Jeremy, Adelyn, Bailey, Camia, and Robert and Janet, and Peter came in.  The boys were so excited to have some more cousins t...

Anna's Blessing

Image
Last Sunday was Anna's blessing.  It was so nice that it corresponded with Erik's family coming out here.  We never thought we would have much family at things like this living in Virginia, so we felt loved :) The whole Nyholm crew (minus the Hunts).  It was a great day.  Anna stayed happy, and Erik gave such a nice blessing.  After church a few of our friends from church came over for a luncheon along with the others that were here visiting.  We had the cafe rio recipe for pulled pork salad . . . yum. Family + friends.  It was so nice of Erik's college friends Jimmy and Amy and their adorable children, and Sarah and her family to come out for it (they all live close to D.C. ) Anna and Grammy So these pictures were actually taken yesterday by Kelsey and Erin.  I never got a chance to take pictures of just Anna during the craziness of the day.  But I lucked out getting Kelsey's fancy camera and their skills to take the pictures instead! ...
