Yuck

Went off of Promethazine for the first time last night . . . big mistake.   I'm just as sick as I was three months ago!  Let's just hope I can make it until Monday when I'll get a refill called in.

Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum

For Playgroup yesterday, we went to the Children's Museum here in Winchester.  It was fun, but of course not that big.  OK bigger than Rexburg's, smaller than Visalia's or Phoenix's :)  There were a lot of sciency learning stations which was nice, and I'm sure the boys will appreciate it more as they get older. Wyatt is happy any time he can pretend he was driving.  This was really cute apple truck full of apples that you put into buckets and tried different pulleys and levers to lift them . . . Wyatt only cared about the steering wheel! a rock wall! Jackson loved climbing up and then JUMPING down.  Even though it wasn't super tall it still scared me! For our Relief Society Christmas dinner last night, I made a coconut cake.  I don't even love coconut cakes, but they remind me of Christmas, so I always want to make them this time of year.  This one was a Paula Deen recipe, so it was LOADED with butter and sugar.  I actually think ...

Weekend Update

Image
Monday, Monday . . . so hard to start the week sometimes!  Weekends with Erik are still a bit of a novelty for us after the many weekends of him working, or us moving, or him being a country away, etc that it still hasn't lost it's specialness even if we don't do much.  This weekend however, we went on a date-- hooray!  We found a great babysitter in our ward and took off Saturday afternoon (I'm still nervous about how Wyatt would do about bedtime with a sitter, but I think next time we will try it).  We caught a matinee of Unstoppable which was such a great movie.  I was in the mood for something cute and light, but I ended up really liking the movie.  I have to say that I loved the movie all the more because my sister Laurel had emailed the family a funny SNL parody clip  of the movie.  The guy that plays Denzel cracks me up and many times during the movie I would laugh thinking of the parody.  I showed it to Erik when we got home...

Thanksgiving Weekend

Image
I don't think I'm ready to start the regular week after such a long weekend!  It was everything that I wanted it be: low key with lots of time for relaxing.  Erik and I watched two movies Thursday and Friday (Prince of Persia and Robin Hood).  Over the past 4 months we've probably just watched three, so that was a success for us :) Thanksgiving day we went and celebrated with the Johnsons (Jimmy is one of Erik's best friends from BYU).  He and his wife Amy (also part of the BYU gang :) ) live right outside of D.C. alongside several of his family members.  It was great fun.  There were lots of kids and toys which kept Jackson and Wyatt happy, and lots of laughter and good food that kept Erik and I happy!  Of course I forgot my camera :) On Friday, we went and saw Tangled as a family.  I was a little worried, because I had read that Disney really tried to play up the "boy antics" in the previews and wasn't sure how the end product w...

D.C. Temple

Image
Yesterday we were able to take a trip to the temple.  As I had never been to the D.C. temple I was super excited!  We tried things a little differently this time.  First Erik went in and did a session while I hung out with the boys, then I went in while he stayed with them.  We both really liked doing it this way, it was a fun family outing! This temple is so huge!  It really is the biggest temple we've lived near (and we've lived near quite a few!!).  I didn't realize that it was built and in the 70s and for many years it was the only temple on the Eastern U.S.  It was the temple for people all the way down in Central and South America, even.  Luckily there are many more temples now! The boys always love finding the "golden Moroni" Hanging out in the visitor's center.  It really kept their attention for a quite a while.  We went into one of the little theaters and watched a movie about pioneer children.  Jackson really want...

He's Officialy Two!

We finally celebrated Wyatt's birthday yesterday!  Poor guy had to wait almost a month, but I don't think he minded too much.  The boys helped me make the cake and frosting and decorated for our (small) party during the day.  Then we patiently waited (some of us more than others) for Erik to get home to start :) Reading the clues for the chaser.  I had to keep reminding Jackson he had to stay behind the birthday boy during the chaser!  Wyatt really seemed delighted each time he realized the presents we were finding were for him! Right before we dug into the cake!  Erik took a really long video with the camera.  Pretty much the whole chaser, present opening, and candle blowing were on the video, so we didn't get pictures of any of that :(  Not that the cake was anything too special though, I knew I didn't have the time with all the craziness going on to do anything too intense.  We found a Mickey Mouse shaped cake pan that came with a ...
