Second Grade Zoo Trip
Last Thursday, I was able to chaperone Jackson's field trip to the National Zoo in Washington D.C.
Erik took a half day of work off and watched Anna and Wyatt (he brought them to work for a few hours).
Because there were so many parent chaperones, I only had two kids in my group: Jackson and his good friend Sam! I was quite relieved when I found that out. We loaded up in charter buses and made really good time to get to the zoo.
We decided to join groups with Hunter and Hunter's Mom (they didn't have any other kids in their group!). It was fun to get to know her (surprisingly her name is not Jenny. I swear every Mom I meet shares my name with me. Curse of an 80s child, I guess :)
The weather was perfect! Seriously, we couldn't have ordered better zoo weather. I told Jackson it was my first time visiting a zoo without a stroller since I was a little girl! It was so much fun to be with Jackson (OK if I'm being honest, I would have had even more fun with only Jackson and not the others haha But it was fun seeing him have fun with his friends).
I was so excited to see the new baby Panda! Seeing the pandas is my most favorite thing about going to the zoo. Seriously, they are just too cute and adorable.
Lion cubs.
We didn't have time to do every single thing, but everyone left happy that we got the major things seen. I'm so thankful for Jackson's great school that provides great experiences for their students.
Ice cream break right before it was time to go.
Jackson must have been pretty wiped out because he slept soundly on my shoulder for about 45 minutes! I love my boy so very much.
