Ramblings of a very tired woman

Dear Sleep, Hey, whats going on? I feel like we haven't seen each other in a long time. More importantly, your relationship with Wyatt seems to have gotten even worse! He'll be with you for a couple hours only to wake up and want nothing to do with you for an hour or two. This cycle continues all night long. What are you doing to him? Its not like he sees too much of you during the day and gets sick of you either. Please stop being mean to Wyatt, so he will like you again. I miss you! love, Jenny

My little Wy-guy

Last week Wyatt turned 3 months old. In some ways its hard to believe he's already past the brand new "new born stage," but in other ways it feels like he's always been apart of this family. He is such a sweet sweet boy. He loves interacting with people. He's a smiley one and now laughs which is so much fun to hear! He sleeps OK I guess, going to bed anywhere between 7-9:30, waking up at 1:00ish, and then waking up at 4:00ish, and then waking up for the day between 6:30-7:30. Some nights he doesn't want to go back to sleep after nursing which is not so fun. Although I put in the portable DVD player in his room and I've been watching the Pretender series on closed captioning (I'm already on season 3!). He's a little particular about where he eats (not nearly as difficult as Jackson though!) He doesn't like the Baby Bjorn which was practically attached to me 24/7 with Jackson, but he will go in a bouncy seat or swing for a few minutes which is ni...

What an exciting day it is! I had such a busy morning with gymnastics class, Parent as Teachers home visit, and a play date that I wasn't able to watch any of the inaugural coverage. Thank goodness for DVRs ! This really does feel like a historical day, one which our grandchildren will study in school. I was watching Oprah yesterday (I know that's like two points against me: Obama supporter and Oprah fan), and there was a video of people pledging what they will do to make a better America . So in that light, I pledge to write to my congressmen when I do not agree with some governmental policy. I also pledge to teach my children the great heritage and history of this country. Anyway, I pray for President Obama and am excited to see some more unity in this country!

Happy Anniversary!

So 5 years ago today, Erik and I were married. Don't I look happy in this picture? I was. I knew that this was the first day of a really great chapter in my life. I knew that Erik and I complemented each other so well and would push each other to be better people and enjoy life. We are sooo different, but we seem to make it work despite and because of those differences. I love him so much and couldn't ask for a better husband! Here are just a few reasons why: He works so incredibly hard, both at work and at home. He supports my decisions and goals. He spends quality time with the kids and is almost always willing to give me a break if I need one. He is super friendly and loves to be around people. He is always willing to serve others and will not wait to be asked. He will watch almost any movie I want to watch including musicals. He will eat pretty much anything I cook and not complain. He respects and loves his parents. He can fix just about anything and if he can't he w...

I've never been into cars (well, that's not including Cindy Mancini's white convertible from "Can't Buy Me Love" I was obsessed with when I was 9). As long as a car has all the working parts and gets good gas mileage, I'm good. However, one vehicle I always said I didn't like was the mini- van. I'm not quite sure why it gets such a bad rap, but I never liked them. Maybe its because your basically admitting, "Yeah, I'm a suburban Mom and I'm not very cool." Anyway, of course we got one last week :) It was a really good deal and it does get gas mileage, so I really can't complain. So, can I get a shout out for the newest member of the Mormon Mom Club?? Can you tell from this picture its foggy outside? I get really excited whenever its foggy b/c it reminds me of home. I just can't bring myself to post with only a picture of a 6 year old mini van, so here's one that's much cuter!!

Tonight is the official end of our holiday vacation. Erik goes back to work tomorrow and I'm feeling pretty bummed. No more sleeping in (Erik took the boys almost every morning), no more lazy breakfasts of pancakes, no more multiple trips to the arcade/bowling alley/movie theater (what can I say, its Rexburg in the winter!) and . . no more sleeping in. Before I get too dreary, I should remember what my bishop said in testimony meeting today. He talked about how he loves Jan. because life is not about vacations. Real life is working and reaching goals and struggling and finding joy in that. I should remember that because I basically despise Jan! :) On another sad front, we have officially entered in a new phase of parenthood where we need to know how to discipline. We are pretty much lost in what to do b/c Jackson says he likes time out whenever we give it to him, and that's pretty much where our discipline repertoire ends. I'm reading a book called Magic 1-2-3 and also The...

Top 10 of 2008

Image
I love year end lists like the ones that come out this time of year, so I'd thought I'd make one myself of my top 10 favorite things of 2008. In no particular order, well except the first one that really is the top! :) : 1. Wyatt being born. The whole experience of being pregnant (and not getting super sick like last time), a much better C section, and not being completely drugged up was so much better. Then in the end, I got an adorable sweet baby boy that has added immeasurably to the Nyholm family already. 2. Talking and playing with Jackson. This year was so much fun to finally hear what Jackson has been thinking this whole time. I love just having conversations with him, b/c I never know where they will lead. He's definitely my little buddy. 3/4. Seeing Derrick come home from his mission/ Our summer trip home. I love Derrick so much and enjoyed his letters with all their optimism and testimony while he was gone, but it was sooo great to get him back. With all 23 of ...
